Dishonored Daring Escapes
Dishonored is getting closer – October 12th is the date to mark off on the
calendar – and we’ve got some great new footage for you. In Dishonored, you can
choose from a number of different methods to face any situation. In this video,
Corvo is detected by the guards at the Boyle Mansion and must find a way to
escape. The video showcases three possible routes using Blink, Bend Time and
Possession – three of the many supernatural abilities you’ll gain access to as
you play through the game.
Take a look at the video, and choose your escape method when you’re given the
options. They’re all pretty cool, although Possession is a favourite of mine at
the moment!

Mat Payne 3
The various churning gears in Max Payne 3 result in one of the
best action games to ever be released. Filled with action that has a glint of realism to it while channeling the spirit of classic Hong Kong cinema, Max Payne 3 is an action game that knows what its strengths are and simply plays those up in such a way that they never falter during the single-player campaign. From the acting to how the combat feels and how thought out the multiplayer modes are its almost unreal how good Max Payne 3 is since it delivers on all
fronts.
The Pros:
+ Gun combat feels amazing in how the weapons react and how easy aiming is.
+ Graphics have loads of detail and small touches which make the world actually feel tangible.
+
The narrative may not have a GTA amount of depth to it, but Max’s dialog and the tone of the game is perfect for a Max Payne adventure.
+ The acting in
the game is perfect as it feels completely natural and James McCaffrey is once again amazing as Max Payne.
+ Multiplayer modes bring some traditional goodness while instilling a
mindset in gamers that isn’t CoD: Favela
Edition.
The Cons:
- Certain action segments may be too much for some people
in how suddenly outlandish they can be.

Resistance: Burning Skies
Resistance: Burning Skies is a game that should’ve been fun but simply
isn’t good by
any stretch of the imagination. Having dual-stick controls in a handheld FPS is nice as it results in the game having a familiar feel, but the gameplay is dull, the level design is so basic
that it’s insulting, and the plot is thinner
than what we’re used to receiving from the
Resistance franchise. The multiplayer mode could’ve been a highlight but in the end doesn’t have the same addicting feel or engaging modes as the core Resistance games on the PS3. I really can’t think of a reason for someone to play Burning Skies
other
than to boost their Trophy count
and
to perhaps play what will likely be the
final Resistance game to be made.
The Pros:
+ Core controls work well in how they feel and how easy it is to use the weapons.
+ Level checkpoints are handled rather well so despite
levels taking 30 to 40 minutes to finish the game has a pick up and play feel to it.
+ Easiest Platinum Trophy to obtain in a Vita game to date.
The Cons:
- Story is complete garbage that doesn’t expand on the lore in the game and is occupied with one
dimensional characters.
- Enemy
A.I. can
be
absolutely stupid at times which doesn’t make for a fun experience.
- Level design feels more restricted than previous Resistance games and doesn’t have much variety to it.
- Final
boss is
absolutely terrible in every possible way. Seriously, who thought that was a good
idea?
- Visuals don’t have much personality to them and look a bit ugly in a few areas.

Ghost Recon Future Soldier
Ghost Recon Future Soldier takes the core concepts of the Clancy franchise of games, and in particular Advanced Warfighter, then speeds everything up. The political intrigue and complex plot-lines involving
world powers playing
covert games behind the scenes are still there, with a much more fluid and quick-feeling gameplay. Fans of Tom Clancy will appreciate the themes of the game, while gamers in general will appreciate how fluid everything feels
now.
The Pros:
+The speed of the gameplay has been greatly improved and feels more
fluid.
+The toys offered by the game, flying drones, magnetic vision, EMP grenades, etc. are a lot of fun.
+Gun Smith mode should be the new benchmark in video game weapon customization.
The Cons:
-The multiplayer is extremely niche,
requiring
a specific kind of gamer-mentality to be enjoyed.
-Kinect features feel a little tacked on and still have that ‘novelty’ feel.
-The story has a tendency to be lost in the game’s more fast-paced/action oriented
style

Battleship: The Game
Even with the seemingly dumb
premise that’s told in the film there was still the chance that Battleship: The Game could be something fun for
gamers to experience. Aside from constantly snickering and finding myself in awe from all the wrong reasons, my journey with Battleship: The Game was simply repetitive, boring, and
simply made me question the motives of big companies and what they deem suitable for the video game market. The game doesn’t have any major good merits as it’s simply akin to cardboard box, it’s exists and can be messed around with but there’s
not much
there to begin with.
The Pros:
+ Trophies/Achievements are easy to acquire.
+ Seeing
the battles at sea while I was on the ground was a nice
element.
The Cons:
- Game
is simply
as ugly
as
a barnacle.
- FPS combat is weak and the battles at sea lack any skill aside from button mashing.
- No multiplayer, bonus modes, or co-op makes the game a one and done
experience.
- Story is told in such a careless way, even by the standards of dumb Hollywood action
movies
